• Tempered vs Laminated: Tempered glass can shatter outward; laminated glass bonds layers around a plastic interlayer, resisting breakage. Many newer models use laminated side windows.
• Why Tools Struggle: Punch hammers and spring tools are designed for tempered glass. Laminated construction resists these impacts, especially underwater.
• Know Your Glass: DOT markings (AS1 / AS2 / AS3) and manufacturer codes can indicate glass type. We advocate transparency so drivers can know if their vehicle is escape-ready with current tools.

1. Slide & Pull — Flip the safety cover and pull the HydroExit handle firmly.
2. Disengage — The cable/lever disengages the regulator-to-glass interface, freeing the pane.

• AS1 — The clearest, highest-grade glass. Passes all safety and impact tests. Only certified for windshields. 
• AS2 — Slightly tinted, still transparent (≥70% light transmission), but doesn’t meet full windshield safety testing. Typically used for side and rear windows.
• AS3 — Darkly tinted or specialty/privacy glass (less than 70% transparency). Permitted only in non-driving critical zones, like rear side or rear windows.
  

In essence:

• AS1 = laminated, fully safety-tested glass.
• AS2 = tempered or laminated, lighter safety standard, used for most side/rear windows.
• AS3 = darker tinted, limited areas (for privacy/specialty use).

• AS1 → Laminated (Windshield only)
  ✅ Always laminated. You’ll only see this on the front windshield.
• AS2 → Could be Laminated or Tempered
  ⚠️ Found on side/rear glass. Needs further checking (VIN/DOT lookup or manufacturer info).
• AS3 → Dark Tint / Specialty Glass
  ❓ Can be laminated or tempered. Always verify.
